From a personal experience with laptop computers, it is not necessary to remove the battery from the notebook computers when the adapter plug in.
1, laptop computers originally with batteries and adapter supply simultaneously, so that even if a sudden power-down, there is the battery in the computer that does not mean a sudden shutdown, sudden power-down is bad to the motherboard, especially hard disk, read and write arm suddenly stopped in high-speed rotating, the hard disk may be damaged. And from the data security concerns, the case writing a material or editing the document, sudden loss of power without save is very depressed, the case is even worse the file wouldn’t be opened by completely damage - even if its will protect the battery not use the battery , protect the battery is far more unimportant than protect your computer;
2, I think, regularly swappable battery is more likely to cause poor contact to the battery and laptop interface;
3, from the lithium battery manufacturer’s technical information briefings, Li-ion laptop battery is really no memory effect, at least not very obvious, unlike the nickel-metal hydride battery;

6, from my personal experience, is indeed no need to remove the battery. My last laptop computer, the battery can use 4 hours when new, the battery has never been removed, 4 years after, the battery still can last 40 minutes (the battery does have the the capacity reduce phenomenon), and there are a lot of people rarely use the battery , a year or two over, the batteries is that’s all. My new notebook, used a year and a half, have never been removed the battery too(Macbook’s battery have a mat), and the battery life is still almost no significant difference in particular compare with the original.
